Written and drawn by Todd McFarlane, Spawn is mostly known as the one of first 90s anti-hero. With his dark and brooding demeanor and gratuitous violence, there's no wonder why this was a hit.
Spawn came to be when Al Simmons, a decorated war hero, was killed and made a deal with an unknown being (later to be revealed as Malbogia, the devil himself). After Simmons' death, he comes back to earth five years laterThe series mainly takes place in Rat City, a place in the Bowery of New York where the homeless and our undead protagonist calls home. Spawn then goes on a mission to find out who killed him all the while fighting other strange enemies that cross his path.
This is a pretty cool series. Though the first volume progresses slowly to establish character and plot, the volumes after are pretty good. The comic pretty much establishes the definition of an anti-hero with his dark and brooding manner and violence towards his enemies. The artwork is tremedous, though sometimes the people that Todd McFarlane look a little lumpy. The story telling itself is brilliant. It makes it feel like I am reading an old epic fable.
My only gripe about the series is that sometimes the issues will lead nowhere or trail off with the plot. Also the advancement of the plot may take too slow and I will sometimes loose interest.
Overall: This is a good series that should definately be picked up. I give it 4.5/5 stars

Watchmen Review (First comic review!!!!!)
Watchmen. What can I say, that already has been said about this monumental book. Alan Moore cleverly disects the super hero to its very core in this terrific book. Though you may not love it right away, you will once you get into it. The read is slow, but I see this more of a positive than a negative. I like how it takes a little while because you are able to pick up on all the subtle themes of the work.
Overall, I give it 5/5 stars, and I highly encourage you to read it.
